A Rapper, 3 Ministers, and a Comedian All Agree…

“Information, information, I just need some information

I been dying, I been dying, is it lack of education?

I've been reading, I've been reading without any transformation

I'm addicted, I'm addicted, is it overstimulation?”

This is the hook from a hauntingly prophetic rap song. Written in 2017, it’s (sadly) become more true as time marches on. The artist is Sho Baraka and the track is titled “Pedantic” off the album Pianos and Politics (click the link, listen close, and thank me later).

Thought leaders John Mark Comer, Bethany Allen, and Bryan Rouanzin alluded to the above phenomenon in this episode of the Practicing the Way podcast (around the 17m 8s mark). They talked about the difference between insight and change.

We confuse the two. We think just because we listened to a podcast, skimmed a book, or attended a conference, we’ve magically become an expert. Yet, a brief survey of our work validates this truth: knowledge transfer does not equal transformation.

Knowledge Transfer ≠ Transformation

We know the old adage that “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” But thanks to the technological revolution we continue to live in, we expect everything to be instant like Amazon (for a funny take on this, watch Ronny Chieng Destroys America on Netflix; “where do we go from here, as a civilization?” ).

That’s why a strategic anchor of Trellis Consulting is to prioritize…

  • longer > shorter

  • slower > faster

  • deeper > shallower

The journey to greater organizational health can’t be found in an app. There is no quick fix. There are no shortcuts.

If you believe that and want to embark on an adventure towards something deep & meaningful, take the first step at one of our free webinars or schedule a Discovery Call here.
